Gail Barbone Niemczyk

I am a native Rhode Islander and moved to Connecticut a few years ago. My liberal arts education at Rhode Island College included courses in art, computer programming, and marketing. For many years, I worked in Advertising at the Providence Journal newspaper. I take pride in my past work as a Rhode Island high school sports magazine editor and publisher years ago. Sport photography and writing became a passion and such a rewarding experience. I am lucky to have my mom, Rita, living life to the fullest. She is 82 years old and physically and mentally active participating in 'Bone Builders' exercise classes and walking regularly (with a knee replacement). She is also an avid reader, walker, traveler, and bridge player. What a great role model she has been throughout my life! I am especially inspired by my husband's 93 year old aunt, Theresa. She continues to enjoy Bingo, loves spending time with family, and is an avid smart phone and Facebook user. Currently, I am a Program Coordinator in the Chronic Disease Self-Management Education (CDSME) Program a the Rhode Island Department of Health. I see amazing older adults exercising, laughing, socializing, while living the best life that they can live. I am lucky to have such a wonderful job.
